Dinkytown Tattoo adds some artistic flair to Dinkytown
Dinkytown is known for it’s eclectic and diverse business mix, so it’s only fitting that one of the largest tattoo parlors in the Twin Cities is located here. Dinkytown Tattoo is located at 407 14th St SE after moving from their original shop location around the corner on 4th Street last year. Originally known as Inkaholics in 2006, in 2010 they became Dinkytown Tattoo after being bought by current owners Greg Lombardi & Daniel Peace.
Greg started his career as a tattoo artist at a shop in Golden Valley where he worked for about 6 years. Daniel is originally from Augusta, Georgia and comes from a family of tattoo artists. Both of his paternal grandparents started tattooing in the 1920s and both of his parents are artists as well. Growing up in a tattoo shop, Greg started practicing the art when he was 15. Daniel met Greg when used to come to the Twin Cities to do guest spots, and the two decided to partner to open a shop of their own.
The shop has 9 different artists that all specialize in different tattoo styles, and they each have their own clientele. They have artists that specialize in realism, black & grey, traditional, and custom designs. After moving to their new location in 2016, Dinkytown Tattoo is one of the largest tattoo shops in the Twin Cities.
While tattoo technology has changed significantly throughout the years, many vintage tattoo designs are still used at Dinkytown Tatoo. Daniel specializes in traditional style tattoos and uses some of his grandparent’s original designs. You can see his grandparent’s vintage art hanging throughout the store. The store has a variety of art to choose from, however, if a client has a concept the artist will create an original design for them.
Their minimum tattoo costs $70, and prices go up from there depending on size and design. Individual artists can be found on their website or follow the artists on Instagram!
